Southern Affairs publishes news and analysis of current events, historical essays, and reviews of books about Latin America. The site was launched in 2005 as a digital history project by Nathan Gill, a journalist and historian of Latin America at UNC Chapel Hill. Gill worked for a decade in South America as a reporter for Bloomberg News, covering governments, economies, and markets across the region. He is an associate researcher at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito and a former columnist at Mediato in Ecuador. His current research explores the intersection of environmental change and economic transition in the Ecuadorian Andes.
All submissions welcome.
